King Oak Bed Frames FAQ

What Type of King Size Oak Bed Frames Are Available?

You can enjoy 31 styles of oak king-size bed frames designed to suit any home décor.

From chunky king-size oak bed frames to rustic beds, you will find the perfect options here.

Our signature styles include:

Oak Metropolitan Beds – for the ultimate modern king-size oak bed frame.

As standard, our king-size oak beds are 5’0” wide and 6’6” long, or 152cm x 200cm.

But this measurement refers to the mattress, with the actual bed frame being slightly longer or wider depending on the design.

For example, our oak king-size Parisienne Sleigh bed has a width of 1,660mm, while our Studio Bed is 1,622mm.

Due to our oak king-size beds being made-to-order, we can also make extra long king-size beds.

You can learn more about this in our guide on extra-long beds.

Yes, many of our oak king-size beds come with optional under-bed storage.

Depending on your chosen bed design, you can add 2 or 4 drawers providing up to 16 cubic feet of storage space – the perfect place to store bedding, duvets, or clothes.

Our oak king beds come in one signature finish – natural light oak, our most popular option, as it provides a classic and timeless look.

But if you’re looking for a dark or grey finish, we can make your dream bed entirely bespoke.

We recommend adding our walnut finish to the natural oak for a dark oak bed design.

Meanwhile, a white / grey oak king size frame can be made using our all-new limed oak finish.

Generally, durable hardwoods are considered best for king-size bed frames.

In our experience, the best of these hardwoods is oak due to its timeless appearance and strength.

Pine is another great choice for beds.

Although it isn’t as strong as oak and is a softwood (which refers to a different water system in the trunk), it’s also less expensive and is more sustainable as pine trees grow faster than oak varieties.

Pine king-size beds are also lighter, and their straight grain makes for a smooth surface, which is why we have four standard finishes for our pine beds.

Yes, we have four bed frame sizes bigger than our solid oak king-size beds. They are:

  • Oak super king-size beds, which are 6’0” wide.
  • Oak eastern king beds, which are 6’6” wide.
  • Oak emperor beds, which are 7’0” wide.
  • Oak Caesar beds, which are 8’0” wide.

Of course, all these measurements refer to the mattress size. Depending on the style of your solid oak bed, the width will exceed these numbers.

Be sure to check the measurements of your chosen bed size on our product pages to determine if it will fit in your bedroom.

With proper maintenance, an oak wooden bed frame can last for decades, even upwards of 100 years.

We recommend keeping our beds away from direct sunlight and avoiding adhesives that can damage the wood’s surface.
