How do mattresses get recycled?
Once your old mattress arrives with us, it is then taken to a specialist company where it is shredded to remove any metal from the flock. The flock is then taken to a material reclamation facility where 100% of the materials are recycled, which means your old mattress won’t end up in landfill.
As part of the sustainable process, any contaminated waste that remains is sent for gasification used for generating electricity. Gasification is a unique process that transforms a carbon-based material into other forms of energy without actually burning it. Instead, gasification converts the solid and liquid waste materials into a gas through a chemical reaction. The amount of waste that is sent to be used in this process is less than 1%.
*Our recycling service is £60 per mattress (free if ordering a mattress from the Diamond collection). Contact our friendly team on 01777 869 669 for more information.
