Pine Beds FAQ

Which Size of Solid Pine Bed is Right for You?

Every bedroom is different, and we have a range of sizes available to fit perfectly in your home – from snug singles to colossal Caesars.

The best pine bed size for you will depend on your height and how many people are sleeping in the bed.

You should check the dimensions of your room when buying one of our beds and other furniture like wardrobes to see if there’s enough space to open doors.

Although we have a list of standard sizes, these all refer to the mattress size.

The style of bed you pick can impact the length and height of the frame, so be sure to check the individual measurements on our product pages.

And if you need an extra-long or wide bed, we can craft a bespoke bed – just contact us to learn more.

Our standard bed sizes include:

  • Pine Single Bed – 3 feet wide, perfect for children or small adults sleeping alone.
  • Pine Double Bed Frame – 4 foot 6 inches wide and ideal for couples without taking up too much floor space.
  • Pine King-Size Beds – 5 feet wide and popular for couples wanting a little extra space.
  • Pine Super King-Size Beds – 6 feet wide.
  • Pine Eastern King Beds – 6 feet 6 inches wide.
  • Pine Emperor Beds – 7 feet wide.

Pine Caesar Beds – 8 feet wide.

Pine beds provide a natural look that can suit any décor.

And this is true for all of our over 30 pine bed frame styles – all handmade by our master craftsmen in Nottinghamshire.

Our main pine bed frame styles include:

Pine Metropolitan Beds – available in three designs.

Yes, our pine bed frames come in four standard finishes. They are:

  • Kenilworth – a lighter colour similar to solid oak.
  • Old wood – a mid-colour that brings out the best of the pine wood grain.
  • Antique mahogany – a rich, dark, and strong colour that was popularised in the 18th and 19th century.
  • Walnut – a striking dark pine colour for beds that suits both traditional and modern homes.

But what if you’re looking for a white, black, or grey pine bed?

Our colour-matching service means you can find the perfect pine colour to suit your bedroom décor.

Just contact us today to see how we can help.

Pine is one of the best woods for bed frames and has four main advantages over other wood types:

  1. Cost  – Pine is one of the more affordable wood types while still being a high-end, reliable material. It allows customers to buy traditionally expensive bed types like a four-poster bed but at a more budget-friendly price.
  2. Lightweight – Pine bed frames are lighter than other wood types, which means moving the bed is much easier than a heavy oak bed.
  3. Visually stunning – Pine has an eye-catching natural grain pattern.
  4. Highly Customisable – Pine is easier to work with than many other woods, which means it can be made into intricate and eye-catching bed designs.

There are some things to keep in mind, though.

Pine isn’t as durable as our oak beds and can show more signs of wear and tear.

Although, this can add to the rustic charm of the bed.

The strength of pine can also vary heavily between species.

But this is not something to worry about with us. We use a combination of Quebec Yellow and Scandinavian Redwood to achieve the best combination of strength and stability.

You might be wondering:

Is pine wood strong enough for a bed frame?

And the answer is yes; pine can be a strong and durable wood for bed frames. But this can depend on several factors.

  1. The species and density of the pine.
  2. The quality of construction, such as joint design and craftsmanship.
  3. The treatment and finishing of the pine wood.

Our pine beds are handmade by our master craftsman with over 200 years of combined experience, with each bed frame well-engineered with proper support structures.

Each of our solid pine bed frames comes with a natural wax finish designed to improve resistance to wear and tear.

We use a unique combination of tree species to enhance the wood’s natural strength and durability.

And our beds can be installed in your home by our experts if you’re a UK mainland customer.

This all means you can feel confident that your pine bed is built to last.

We’re so confident in our bed’s quality that we have a 10-year guarantee, with a 21-day money-back guarantee if you aren’t happy.

Our pine beds are highly durable and reliable. But they still need love and care to ensure their longevity.

For our pine furniture and beds, we recommend taking the following steps:

  1. Keep your pine bed out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources like radiators.
  2. Use a dry, lint-free cloth to clean your bed from dust and dirt – but don’t use silicone-based cleaning or polishing products.
  3. We recommend applying a clear beeswax every six months to clean and nourish the wood. Please note that this does not apply to our limed oak finish.

If your pine bed frames come with leather, we recommend cleaning the leather using a soft cloth that has been wrung out in a warm, mild soap solution.

Just simply wipe the leather in a gentle circular motion to avoid soaking the leather.

You can find full care details in our care guide.

We use two wood types- oak and pine- to create our famed wooden furniture and beds.

But which material is right for you?

Overall, we believe oak is the best material for beds.

Oak has long been considered a timeless classic for bedroom furniture, with its natural colour able to suit every décor.

Its natural strength and durability make it an excellent investment, as it can last for decades with the right care.

However, because of these characteristics, oak is more expensive than pine.

Pine is an affordable alternative to oak. It’s been at the height of fashion many times, with its straighter, lighter grains making it easier to paint for redecoration.

Pine trees are also quicker to replenish than oak as they grow faster, making pine a more sustainable wood option for the planet.

Or you can book a visit to our factory showroom to discuss your options with one of our wooden bed and furniture experts.

Our pine beds come with optional underbed storage.

Depending on the bed design, you can add 2 to 4 drawers, providing up to 16 cubic feet of storage space.

Our drawers are hand-built, like our beds, and we use dovetailed joints for extra strength.

If you need bigger storage, we have plenty of options with our handmade pine bedroom furniture.

Although our pine bed frames don’t come included with mattresses, you can add them to your order when configuring your product.

Our luxury mattresses are all handcrafted in Yorkshire and are available in latex, memory foam, and pocket springs
