If you are looking for furniture that will stand the test of time and ooze elegance, solid wood is the way to go. Only solid wooden furniture screams luxury and elegance, and whilst it may be an investment to begin with, it will certainly pay off when in years to go come it has aged with grace and beauty.

Is Solid Wood Furniture Best?

Solid wood is by far a much better choice for homeowners and hotel owners. It may cost more than furniture made out of engineered woods, but will last much longer making it much better value for money.

Environmentally, solid wood furniture is much more eco-friendly. Apart from being sourced from sustainably managed forests, solid wood furniture uses very little energy during the production process and is built to last a lifetime, meaning that it does not often need replacing. Sustainability is key, and here at Revival Beds we are working more on improving our methods.

How Can You Tell if Wood Furniture is Good Quality?

The way it is constructed – does it wobble? With wooden furniture, a tell-tale indication of the quality of construction would be the joints. Good quality furniture will have joints that are screwed, or doweled. The very best joints are dovetailed, mortise-and tenon. Indications of poor quality would be joints that are nailed, stapled, or will have visible glue.

Does it have a uniform look? Solid hardwoods are made from just that, a solid wood. Solid wood furniture pieces show the imperfections of the wood, suck as knots, because it is a product of nature. Veneer is man-made and is manufactured to remove those imperfections. Since veneer wood is a combination of different woods, it is crafted to have a uniform look to it.

Is Solid Wood Furniture Worth It?

Engineered wood furniture, no matter how well made, can never possess the luxurious elegance that solid wood furniture exudes. It will simply never look as good.

If you want a chic, upmarket homestyle that says quality and elegance to everyone who enters your home – then solid wood furniture is essential. The time-old phrase is ‘buy cheap, buy twice’ and that rings true, especially when it comes to furniture and beds.

How to Care for your Revival Furniture

Here at Revival Beds, we use natural materials in our workmanship. We recommend the following care instructions to help maintain and enhance the natural beauty of your new furniture.

– Keep out of direct sunlight and away from sources of immediate heat, such as a radiator.

– Keep free of dust and dirt by using a dry, lint free cloth – do not use any silicone based cleaning or polishing products.

– Do not use any adhesives to stick anything to the wood because this will damage the surface.

– For natural wood finishes only, we recommend that you apply a clear beeswax every 6 months – this will help to clean and nourish the wood, while also building up resistance. Apply the wax using a dry, lint free cloth and work it in the surface, working with the grain where possible.

– Take care to prevent sharp objects such as toys, buckles and heels from coming into contact with your furniture.

– Avoid contact with any chemicals such as hair / makeup products and sun cream etc as these may affect the finish.

– To avoid ring marks from cups or glasses please use a coaster.
