Matching bedroom furniture can make a room feel calmer and more considered, but it does not mean every item must be identical. The most successful bedrooms coordinate timber, finish, scale and useful storage while leaving enough space to move comfortably.

Revival Beds handcrafts solid wood beds and free-standing bedroom furniture to order in Nottinghamshire. The range is designed to work together, with oak and pine options and a choice of finishes depending on the collection.

Start with how the room needs to work

Before choosing a matching set, decide what the room must store and how each piece will be used. A bedside cabinet needs to be convenient from the bed, drawers need clearance to open, and a wardrobe needs enough room in front of its doors.

  • Measure the usable wall space and floor area.
  • Mark the position of radiators, sockets, windows and doors.
  • Allow room for wardrobe doors and drawers to open fully.
  • Check that the furniture will not make the route around the bed too narrow.
  • Measure the access route to the bedroom as well as the room itself.

Choose the bed first

The bed is usually the largest and most visually important item in the room, so it provides a sensible starting point. Once you have chosen its design, timber and finish, you can select furniture that complements it.

A coordinated room might use the same finish throughout, or combine closely related pieces without forcing every detail to match. The aim is a balanced bedroom, not a showroom filled with too much furniture.

Select the right wardrobe

Revival wardrobes are free-standing solid wood pieces rather than fitted wardrobes shaped around alcoves or sloping ceilings. They are available with one to four doors, with six internal configurations across the range. This lets you choose a combination of hanging and shelf storage that suits the room and the clothes you need to organise.

Measure both the available space and the route into the bedroom. Our delivery team installs the wardrobe in the chosen room, but access still needs to be considered before ordering.

Our solid wood wardrobe guide explains the door sizes, internal layouts and measuring points in more detail.

Add storage in proportion to the room

Bedside cabinets, chests of drawers, dressing tables and under-bed storage can all be useful, but more furniture is not automatically better. Start with the storage you genuinely need and protect the clear space around the bed.

Under-bed drawers can be especially useful where floor space is limited. Check that there is enough side clearance to pull them out fully and that their position works with bedside cabinets and other furniture.

Coordinate timber and finish

Natural timber varies in grain and tone, which is part of the character of solid wood. Choosing the same timber and finish helps separate pieces sit comfortably together, while the individual grain ensures the room does not feel artificial or mass-produced.

If you already own a Revival bed or piece of furniture, speak to us about the original finish before ordering an additional item. Colours can change gradually with age and light, so an informed match is better than relying on a screen image alone.

Be clear about bespoke options

Made to order does not mean that every piece can be built as fitted furniture or shaped to the millimetre around an alcove. Revival bedroom furniture is free-standing. Available sizes, configurations and possible alterations depend on the product and should be confirmed before ordering.

If your room has an awkward layout, share the measurements with our team. We can help you choose appropriate pieces and explain which options are available without promising a fitted solution that the product is not designed to provide.

Delivery and installation

Solid wood furniture can be heavy and awkward to handle. Our specialist two-person delivery team brings beds and bedroom furniture into the chosen room and installs them for you.

Delivery and installation are included for UK mainland customers, subject to the conditions and exceptions in our delivery information. If access appears restricted, we can check internal measurements before manufacture to reduce the risk of a problem on delivery day.

Bedroom furniture checklist

  • Plan storage around what you actually need.
  • Measure the room and access route carefully.
  • Choose a bed, timber and finish as the starting point.
  • Select a wardrobe by door count and internal configuration.
  • Allow clearance for every door and drawer.
  • Confirm any requested alteration before ordering.

Well-chosen bedroom furniture should make the room easier to use as well as more attractive. Start with accurate measurements, choose pieces in proportion to the space and use coordinated solid wood finishes to create a bedroom that feels settled rather than crowded.
