A pocket sprung mattress contains individual springs that are each sewn into their own pocket of fabric. These fabric pockets allow the springs in a pocket sprung mattress work independently of one another and offer your body fantastic pressure relieving support.
Depending on the required feel a sleeper needs, a Henry Smeaton mattress can contain anything from 1000 to over 11000 springs.
This is achieved in two ways (1) by double and sometimes triple decking the layers of springs. (2) By including tablet springs which are small individual pocketed spring decks.
This is the reason Henry Smeaton Pocket Sprung mattresses should not be bent and also why they are so heavy.
Our weights, height and size can be vastly different from our partners yet we seem to just accept that we should sleep on the same mattress type, even though it doesn’t suit our needs. Catering to both partner’s needs, we can make a mattress with a different feel on either side that suits you – Dual Feel.
It’s quite a simple concept, two separate mattresses are put together to form one. Each mattress is entirely independent of each other, so you can pick each side to suit the needs of both partners. So, if one partner is of a slight build and the other partner is of a heavy build, both can have their ideal mattress.
