You only have to examine the beautiful hand-painted finish, slightly distressed for effect, to see why this bed works so well with fresh, ocean-inspired decor.

A simple bed, nothing has been hurried in the construction

When it comes to construction, nothing has been hurried (our craftsmen spend as long as it takes to build a bed of uncompromising quality and strength). Nothing fancy has been added - just good, honest clean open lines.

Behind the scenes, there's just as much attention to detail. Take the slats on the bed base which have been carefully measured to ensure your mattress sits perfectly and the bed is 100% squeak free.

We only use traditional mortise and tenon joints, known for their strength and durability. And old-fashioned dowels. Even the wooden studded strip that caps the tall slatted headboard and lower footboard has been crafted to perfection. And to keep the look clean and clutter-free, we've introduced clever space-efficient bedroom storage with coordinating wardrobes, cabinets and drawers.

Hand-painted or waxed finish, slightly distressed for authenticity

We spend as much time on the finish as we do on the construction. Whether you choose a hand-painted or waxed finish, the timber needs to be pre-prepared either with a stain or just sanded back.

The bed is then given a slightly distressed finish (an expert combination of chisels, chains, even brick dust!) to re-create the knocks, bumps and imperfections of everyday life. We even have a special tool that creates faux woodworm for a totally authentic look.
