For hundreds of years paint has been the alternative to a plain wood finish. A painted sleigh bed was seen as a more opulent alternative to a bed in a plain wood finish.
Cream and white painted furniture also has the effect of creating a contempory shabby chic bedroom.

Recreating antique bedroom furniture

Although Revival beds don't go to the lengths of hand painting swags urns and laurels we do achieve a nice paint finish. In fact each piece of bedroom furniture has to go through exactly the same seven part preparation of sanding, smoothing and de-nibbing as our waxed furniture goes through.

We take the paint finish to the next level by making the finish look aged and authentic just like the antique bedroom furniture we are trying to emulate.
We achieve this antique look by rubbing back corners and knots to re-create the bumps and knocks of every day life. And, if you require we can also add faux woodworm holes. This effect can look fantastic on beds like the Maine when teamed with matching furniture.

Almond Warm browns and caramels for the perfect bedroom hideaway. This creamy colour has a softening effect on bedroom furniture. If you're short of daylight in your bedroom try to go for light coloured carpets and bedroom furniture. It stops the room becoming 'full' and gives a spacious feel
Cornflower Blue How about something a bit different like this Cornflower Blue. This chalky blue paint finish is the type of wash that was used on furniture years ago would be at home along side 18th century furniture.
Gustavian Grey Sophisticated and Scandinavian, this elegant paint finish has provenance in the palaces of the Swedish royal family. This is not the drab grey of winter colour, it's more of a background to show off other colours. Think rich coloured bed throws, warm coloured cushions not to mention how well in goes together with crisp white bedding.
Harbour This paint finish creates a laid back calmness. A tranquil colour for a totally relaxed bedroom. Think lapping waves, bobbing boats and feet in the up position. Do you need to work hard at being lazy - get some help from a bedroom painted in Harbour.
Ivory Cream A neutral finish with an underlying warmth that is given a textured wax finish. The rippling brushstrokes of the paint allow the coloured wax to sit and give the smokey Ivory cream paint finish.
