Designing your perfect bedroom
It’s easy to achieve a look like this
Maybe you already know the kind of look you want for your bedroom – or perhaps you need some inspiring ideas. In an ideal world, you'd hire an interior designer to bring everything together for you – so, like those programmes on the TV, you'd just walk in to the finished bedroom and say: "Wow!"
But if you're like most people and you're busy thumbing through home interiors magazines for ideas, then we've made putting together the perfect bedroom even easier. So take a look at our simple suggestions that can make a gorgeous bedroom simply dream-like.
Let’s start with the bed…
You've probably chosen the style of your Revival Bed already, but if not then you'll see some examples of the kind of bedding that complements each of the different bed styles on our Four Poster Drapes page: traditional or contemporary, English, Irish, New England or French inspired, painted or waxed, four poster or standard bed.
You'll see that the more traditional designs generally match well with the thick brocades and suedes, creating a warm and luxurious feel, while the curvier designs are mostly shown to their best advantage with light and airy fabrics such as the voiles, creating an open and spacious impression. Once you know which of these styles suits your ideal bedroom you can choose the most suitable bed design, decide on four-poster or standard, and then get down to the design detail which will make it your own.
Now for the drapes

Next, if you've decided on a four poster, choose from our coordinating ranges of drapes, throws, pelmets, runners, tester curtains and canopies – all made to fit your Revival Bed perfectly. We have literally hundreds of combinations of fabrics, from heavy brocades to airy voiles, so you're sure to find the perfect look for your bedroom. The possibilities are endless, but don't let that intimidate you - the overall style will guide you to the best choices.
And finally the bedding and cushions
Firstly you'll probably want to match the type of bedding to the style - so the silky feel of a 400 thread count Egyptian cotton sheet will go well with the luxury look, while the more linen feel of the 200 thread count material may match the more open and airy designs. (See our Duvets and Pillows page for the ideal bases for your choice of bedding - made to measure if necessary.) Decide if you want contrasting or matching colours for your pillows or a mixture of both.
Finally the finishing touches - this is when you see the designers rushing around arranging cushions! If you've chosen a four poster then a good idea is to match the cushion fabrics to the pelmets or drapes for that fully coordinated look. For a standard bed then you can match or contrast to the bedspread instead.
Take a look at the following selection of fabrics and it'll soon come together. (Click on the images for a more detailed view) Then ask us for a set of fabric samples to be sent to your home and you'll be well on the way to a designer-style result. Please call us on 01777 869 669
