1993 - 2003 The first kingsize Revival Beds
The first beds we made must have looked a bit of a show but we eventually got the authentic look. We soon had a small workshop where we hand made beds and employed our first couple of full-time employees.
We specialized in four poster beds, super king size beds, queen size beds, made to measure and custom beds.
The Big Bed decision we made early on that has stood us in good stead right up to the present day.
Word spread and over the next ten years we naturally expanded other areas of our business to include the hand making of complementary bedroom furniture. We expanded the area we served to the whole of the U.K. mainland (including the islands). Plus we have exported to many European countries the USA and the Caribbean.
As well as getting a name for quality beds we also became well known for guaranteeing all Revival Beds SQUEAKFREE (something we still do) which is something our competitors didn't (and still don't).
Hotels and Spa's like our beds because they raise their profile with four poster beds, and solid wooden bedroom furniture. Also with beds like the Mackintosh they were able to theme bedrooms.
As well as traditional and contempory designs for the beds we have spent good deal of time developing the polishes and paint finishes used on the Revival collection. This is an area we feel is almost as important as the furniture itself. We now have a range of twelve wax and paint finishes that can be distressed for an old fashion appearance... much the same as the furniture that came out of that first house clearance.
We've made beds and furniture for hotels right across the spectrum, for instance the Golden Fleece in York - famous for its resident ghost - to National Trust houses like the West Challacombe manor in Comb Martin in North Devon.
We even delivered a bedroom suite to an island in the middle of Derwent water... a delivery made using the house owner's boat (see pics).
In order to supply bespoke size beds, we realized we would need to supply bespoke size mattresses. We now work with a long established (over 100 years) South Yorkshire Company called Healthbeds. Healthbeds provide us with a brilliant range of pocket sprung and memory foam mattresses to suit everyone.
